Born and raised in Duluth, Dr. Alex grew up with plenty of animals in her house. She had not considered becoming a veterinarian until her freshman year at the University of Georgia where she wrote a research paper on zoo veterinarians. She was so intrigued and inspired that she began volunteering and working at vet clinics throughout the rest of her undergraduate career. Though zoo animals were what piqued her interest, she found her calling in dog and cat medicine.
Before attending UGA’s College of Veterinary Medicine to earn her DVM, she spent a year living on the Gulf Coast and working as an assistant at a vet clinic, continuing her education and combining her love of the beach with her compassion for animals. Working in this field and caring for her patients continues to bring her joy and fulfillment every day.
