Plasma Therapy:
Arthritis Relief for
Dogs & Cats
in Duluth, GA
Platelet rich plasma therapy is regenerative medicine that uses parts of your pet’s own blood to help them heal from an injury or reduce pain and inflammation caused by osteoarthritis. Originally provided for humans, this treatment is also proven to provide pain relief for dogs and cats. We’re very happy to be able to offer this minimally invasive treatment to help our patients overcome painful and/or slow-to-heal conditions, and give them a better quality of life.

How Does Platelet Rich Plasma Therapy Work?
Platelets are a type of blood cell that contain a growth factor that can trigger cell growth, speed up healing and tissue regeneration. We obtain these platelets by first drawing a small amount of blood, then using a centrifugation process that separates the plasma and platelets from the red blood cells. Then we draw off the plasma to set a concentrated sample of platelet rich plasma (PRP). Once we have the PRP we can then inject those platelets into and around the injury site, which is typically a joint or tendon.
Depending on the area affected and the nature of the injury, your pet might need to be lightly sedated for their comfort.
